The more we emphasize the ministry of John the Baptist, the more clearly we must say that the Savior is Jesus alone. John the Baptist is a man sent from God, and Jesus is the Word who was from the beginning. John testifies of the light, and Jesus is the true Light. John baptizes with water, and Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit. John is the friend of the bridegroom, and Jesus is the Bridegroom.
